Company History
2005
Founding of ID-ware in Enschede/Netherlands
ID-ware is founded in the year 2005 in Enschede/Netherlands to assist organisations in increasing their physical security.
At the beginning, ID-ware offers its customers printing services including a standalone software solution for card personalisation.
In 2005, the first Online Card Management System (OCMS) is developed and initially used by customers for ordering of card printing services and communications. At that time, also the first large project in the financial industry is won by ID-ware in the Netherlands.
2006
Founding of the German office
ID-ware Germany is founded, located in Rüsselsheim near Frankfurt.
2007
Move of ID-ware headquarters to Zevenaar
The Dutch office moved from Enschede to Zevenaar
2010
Award of first large-size German authority frame contract
ID-ware is awarded an important German authority card management frame contract for the electronic civil servant card (“Elektronischer Dienstausweis”), being the trigger for development of the 2nd generation of the ID-ware Online Card Management System (OCMS) Link to Landingpage. This new OCMS version is now distributed as a product to customers for the first time, as before it was only used for ordering card printing services.
2011
Award of Dutch Rijkspas contract
The Rijkspas contract starts in 2011 and is still ongoing. Rijkspas is the Dutch civil servant card and ID-ware provides consultancy, software development and maintenance and support services.
2013
Move of ID-ware headquarters to The Hague
In the year 2013, the Dutch headquarters moves from Zevenaar to The Hague due to a strong focus on government customers based there. At that time, ID-ware has already grown to around a total of 40 employees. After that, ID-ware strongly expands internationally in various verticals (finance, education, telecommunication, automotive, public transport, etc.).
2017
Launch of first PIAM solution
In 2017, the first PIAM solution including the new generation of OCMS (3rd generation) and physical Access Management/Visitor Management module is launched.
2021
New CEO Bernd Dieckmann
With the joining of Bernd Dieckmann in 2021, the ID-ware Management changes to a new CEO.
2022
Move of German office to Frankfurt & Integration of OmniCard into the ID-ware Group
In 2022, the German office moves to Frankfurt and OmniCard, a leading Dutch provider of card personalisation services and related hardware, is acquired by ID-ware.
2023
100+ Employees
In the year 2023, the expansion of ID-ware results in a total number of employees reaching over 100.
2024
Integration of Cipher10 into the ID-ware Group & Move of OmniCard and ID-ware International to one joint office in The Hague
Cipher10, a UK-based company developing solutions such as an AI-driven photo capture tool perfectly complementing the PIAM solution range offered by ID-ware, is acquired in 2024. End of the year 2024, the full integration of Cipher10 into ID-ware is completed by rebranding it into ID-ware UK Ltd.
The integration of OmniCard into the ID-ware Group is finalised by the move of the ID-ware headquarters and OmniCard into one joint office building located in The Hague in December 2024.
2025
Merger of OmniCard into ID-ware International B.V.
OmniCard and ID-ware International merge beginning of 2025 so that they both continue under the name of ID-ware International B.V.
2025
New CTO Zak Habgood
ID-ware appoints Zak Habgood as CTO to guide ID-ware’s transformation into a cloud-first, Software-as-a Service (SaaS)-focused organisation.
Today, ID-ware is a European leader in PIAM solutions, mainly serving large-size customers from government institutions, education sector, financial & automative industry and a lot more.
